Additional Resources
Age and Sex of Tissue Donors
The age and sex of tissues from which stem cells are derived are important variables that impact biochemical, physiological, and clinical endpoints, and must be taken into consideration in preclinical research. That’s why we offer both young and old, male and female cell lines – so you always get the right cell type for your specific studies. Click the links below to learn more.
Statement on Passage Number
While passage number is the de facto metric used for determining cell proliferation capacity, the actual capacity is dependent upon the total number of cell divisions (or doubling number (PDN)) that a particular cell type can undergo. With the increased use of 3D and other large cell expansion systems used by commercial manufacturers, passage number is not the most reliable means of determining future cell proliferation capacity after purchase.
